Discipleship House for Women

The Discipleship House is a transitional Recovery house that has been operating  for the past 12 years under the administration of Ms. Betty Clot, who is the founder and supported by various churches and individuals, along with major support by the Baptist Association of Tennessee.  The Discipleship House has recently partnered with FreshSTART to provide Recovery programming and supervision of the residents.  The Discipleship House and FreshSTART are both 501c3, faith based, non-profit organizations and the program offered at Discipleship House is Christ centered.

The Discipleship House holds up to six female residents.  Most women are in a private bedroom.  The program typically lasts 8 months, but extensions up to one year may be granted.  While in residence, women will be included in regular recovery classes, 12 step meetings, Recovery focused church services, devotions and Bible studies and education on a wide variety of life skills topics, including anger management, healthy boundaries, money management and parenting.

The cost per resident is $175 per week and includes housing, bedding, toiletries, meals, transportation and Recovery programming.  Free gym membership is provided and regular transportation to the gym is available.  All residents are expected to work at least 30 hours a week while in the program and are given assistance in locating employment in Recovery friendly work environments.  Women are also expected to participate in the life of the community, including some volunteer work.

If coming out of a Rehab setting, residents are assisted in making the transition to medical support and long term counseling.  If coming out of an incarcerated setting, residents are also assisted in putting the details of their lives back together, including driver’s license, identity documents, probation and parole hearings and meetings, etc…  All residents are assisted with locating appropriate and long term solutions for health care, mental health support, medications, eye glasses and dental care.  The Discipleship House has a supply of clothing, shoes and household items to give each woman a start, regardless of the situation or circumstance she has come from or is to return to upon release.

The Discipleship House uses a “Level System” that requires residents to earn privileges.  This helps residents earn rewards as they participate in healthy habits and life style choices.  The goal is to help women realize that they have the capacity to make wise choices and live life clean,  and to be a healthy part of a community and responsible member of a team.  All team members are part of the Recovery community and are professionally trained.
